Coder Education and Training

Developed to provide Client with a constant resource for coding education and training. HMI will provide on the job education and training in a one on one or group setting. Education and training is specifically aimed towards the Client’s coding and auditing professionals. Education is customized to provide the Client with the tools and resources applicable to the clinical population of the facility. Utilizing the Client’s policies and procedures, ICD-9-CM, CPT, HCPCS, AHA, and AMA Coding guidelines, and CMS regulatory rules, HMI will educate and train staff on the use of these tools and resources so that application of the most appropriate coding is performed. 

This service will add value in the following ways: 

• HMI will educate the coding and auditing staff on how to locate the supporting documentation in the medical record to validate coding and billing. 
• HMI will provide specialized training for the new graduates, coders transitioning from one area of coding to another, and coders advancing to auditors. 
• HMI also provides training to Client’s ancillary staff in regards to the revenue cycle and their roles. 
• HMI will educate coders on the proper use of query and/or help the Client develop their own query process for complete documentation and coding.
